This book was required reading for seminary. Taylor occasionally provides good insight into a passage, but for the most part, his insights are summarizations of quotes he takes from other commentators. My biggest issue was the redundancy found throughout the book. It became so unbearable that at one point that I found sections of at least half a paragraph repeated with only very minor word changes three times in three pages. I consistently felt that I was wasting my time reading something I had read just a page or two before. If you are a seminary student, this is pretty good source material for research papers; but, if you are a pastor looking for a good commentary for application, look elsewhere.

This review is strictly for the Kindle format and does not concern the content of the book. My 5 stars is simply for the ease of navigation.

As a pastor I use Kindle and Logos for digital references. Kindle versions of reference works and commentaries are often very difficult to navigate and not worth the time or effort even at a substantial savings. Having said that, this version seems to be as good as it gets in terms of navigating a commentary. I have Kindle for Mac as well as iPhone and accessing the end notes and getting to a specific passage are relatively easy.

Taylor's commentary on 1 Corinthians is a great help for pastors and believers alike. His writing style is easily understood, and for those who would like to go deeper in study, one need look only to the footnotes and bibliography. This commentary would be a great source for a personal study through the book of 1 Corinthians.
