This is my first Bible study focused specifically on Prayer and with this author. The six chapters take about an hour or so each to complete but also include prayer exercises that take more time and dedication-as much as you're willing to put in - some up to four or more hours but I could have skipped some as well. I would consider this a basic study - not too theological or 'heady'.

The scripture reading and questions are insightful and, if at times the insight seems contradictory to my beliefs, make me question their basis. Therefore I've been motivated on my own to do more research on examples of prayer in scripture and to pray actively listening for God talk to me about my communication with him. And He has! In the end, I've agreed with the concepts presented.

The leaders instruction is in the back of each book - good tips for leading and the flow of the discussion based on this format was great. Very scripture focused sessions - reading verses aloud and then discussing our answers helped re-implant them into my memory and fun to hear everyone's perspective. Since all participants can read the answers in the back, it was great to discuss if we each agreed or understood something different - it also took the pressure off people new to the bible study session by asking them to read the answer from the back if we had need for clarification on what point was trying to be impressed.

Our group had great discussion-usually about 1.45-2 hours with an additional .5 hours for prayer requests, but we are a talky group! The excercises really are the key to getting more from the study than an hour each lesson. I will do another study by this author. I feel God has worked in my life through this study and my prayer life is significantly enriched.

Well written and thoughtful study of prayer and listening. Each chapter can be completed in less than an hour and group discussion takes about one hour per chapter.
