A Hard Day's Work might not seem the snappiest title for a book, especially one about a matchmaker whose job it is to bring people together. But Patricia Warren plies her very particular trade in rural Derbyshire, where emotional effusiveness can be thin on the ground. And so perhaps it's a reasonable enough description. Possibly even an understatement. I live in Derbyshire myself, not a million miles from Pat Warren, which gave reading her book a certain edge. I eagerly scoured its pages hoping to spot someone I knew who had called on her services.

I like a guy who can work on a car, or change his oil at least, who can tie a hook, can pitch a tent and who enjoys the outdoors, a good beer and some BBQ. I'm a real woman, not a white wine drinking anorexic who spends all of her money on designer clothes, purses and shoes or lives in a gym. I am strong, smart, loyal, like fishing, hunting, cooking, entertaining or just chilling at home. I am a huge dog lover, I foster and rescue German Shepherds and Malamutes and have a few of my own.
