Absolutely imperative book to own if you are doing anything to an FE. Obviously, you would want to refer to the technical repair manual for "how-to" instructions, so I don't really understand the reviewers who are complaining that it does not cover "how-to" instructions. That being said, it's a great read with a lot of good and clear information. Why trust a bunch of strangers on internet forums who are all giving different advice in regards to what your engine needs, when you could trust a professional who has actually built numerous FE engines?

Lots of great information about the FE engines. I'm not interested in scavenging factory iron heads so the detailed coverage of these was much more than I needed, and the information about alternative rocker arm systems is dated since some of them aren't available anymore. I bought this because the author has been an impressive competitor in the Engine Masters series and seems to be the current FE guru.

I would highly recommend this book for anyone starting to build a Ford FE engine. Especially recommend for high performance builds. In my case, I am not the actual builder for my engine, however the shop that is doing my build took my copy of the book and is usiing it as a refresher for themselves. If anyone has done very much research into building an FE engine, they have surely come across the name of the author, Mr. Barry Robotnik. In the book he uses his extensive background and knowledge of the FE engine to describe in detailed fashion the important and critical points that must be addressed during an FE build. He stresses the importance of these details and explains the whats and the whys of each.

Included are many many photographs to help clarify the issues. Again, this is an excellent book for a slightly experienced builder or even a professional engine builder who hasn't built an FE engine for awhile. Money well spent for anyone.

"This is a great buyers list if you are 65, single and just cashed your IRA." My initial review and two stars was a bit harsh. I re-read the book and think it is still a great buyers list. However, there are data in the book that is worth checking out. As well as identifying marks. Mr. Robotnik does make references to older parts that you may encounter at swap meets, if they work well and whether it realistic to purchase OEM versus new construction. He is a bit heavy on his company's brand but that is to be expected.

I have been reading the comments posted on various forums and Barry Robotnik, the author of this book, features prominently.

Based on what I have read I decided this book would be a great resource to bring all the Forum threads into perspective and all in one place. I believe this is the greatest read if you want to learn about the FE and even if you want to tackle one yourself. It will arm you with all the information required to be able to talk authoritatively with your mates or engine builders.

Well worth purchase, leave on the coffee table if you have to for lots of comments.

I found the Steve Christ book ("How to Rebuild Big Block Ford Engines") exceedingly more educational and instructive; however that book is concerned with stock re-builds only.
