The Czech Republic is an inland country, strategically located at the crossroads of Europe. The Moravian Gate is a traditional military corridor between the North European Plain and the Danube in central Europe (as well as the migration route for animals and plants), and also a boundary between the Czech Massif (Palaeozoic Age) and the Western Carpathian (Tertiary Age) mountains.
