Frank Lloyd Wright Stained Glass Portfolio (Frank Lloyd Wright Portfolio Series). Thomas A. Heinz features not only Wright's iridescent stained glass but a sweeping range of his lightscreens, Wright's term for his designs that captured the essence of both light and shado. The screens were not intended to obscure the view ou the window but to modify and focus it through framing. I love the art of stained glass and this book shows the highlights of many homes here and abroad. Very informative as well.

This is the finest book on Frank Lloyd Wright furniture. Author Heinz is to be commended for assembling this remarkable survey of Wright furniture in Wright interiors. I've always admired Wrights work and bought this book to make furniture inspired by his designs. The level of detail here is admirable but equally important are the approximately 350 photographs taken for this book.

Frank Lloyd Wright (June 8, 1867 – April 9, 1959) was an American architect, interior designer, writer, and educator, whose creative period spanned more than 70 years, designing more than 1,000 structures, of which 532 were completed. Wright believed in designing structures that were in harmony with humanity and its environment, a philosophy he called organic architecture.

This lavishly illustrated book devotes itself to Wright's formidable contribution to the medium and features a number of powerful two-dimensional graphic designs and a number of three-dimensional units. Stained glass in the USA as well as the technical aspects of glass making are discussed. The majority of his work in glass was concentrated into the first decade of the 20th century when Wright abandoned old-fashioned stained glass windows and began experimenting with light screens of concrete developing into wood fretwork and glass block and tubing.

I just dropped by amazon.com to check on the availabilty of the Heinz book for a potential client. As the owner of a world class art glass studio specializing in FLW "inspired" designs, Studio Deco, I have had the opportunity to review countless books on the subject. In my opinion this is the finest book presently available.
