Lokenath Debnath (born 30 September 1935) is an Indian American mathematician. He was born on 30 September 1935 in India. He received both Masters and a doctorate degree from University of Calcutta in Pure Mathematics in 1965. in Applied Mathematics at University of London in 1967. His doctoral advisor was Simon Rosenblat. He is currently a professor of mathematics at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He was a Professor at University of Central Florida from 1983 to 2001.

This is perhaps the first book containing biographical information of Sir James Lighthill and his major scientific contributions to the different areas of fluid mechanics, applied mathematics, aerodynamics, linear and nonlinear waves in fluids, geophysical fluid dynamics, biofluiddynamics, aeroelasticity, boundary layer theory, generalized functions, and Fourier series and integrals.
