See a Problem? We’d love your help. A properly co-ordinated protection system is vital to ensure that an electricity distribution network can operate within preset requirements for safety for individual items of equipment, staff and public, and the network overall.

One of the main players to achieve this is the protection system, which has to be reliable, fast and with a good cost/benefit ratio. This book refers to most aspects of electrical protections, with emphasis on Distribution Systems. Protection of generation and transmission systems are also treated in the text. Integration of renewable energy resources into an electricity distribution system has raised many challenges, including a number of stability issues.

Distributed energy resources connected to the distribution system, as. . Gers obtained his BSc in Electrical Engineering at University o.

Distributed energy resources connected to the distribution system, as well as the requirements for reducing the fault clearing time are some of the drivers for a different approach to distribution systems protection. In 1981 he finished an MSc at the University of Salford in England and his PhD in 1998 at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland.

A properly coordinated protection system is vital to ensure that an electricity distribution network can operate within preset requirements for safety for individual items of equipment, staff and public, and the network overall. Suitable and reliable equipment should be installed on all circuits and electrical equipment and to do this, protective relays are used to initiate the isolation of faulted sections of a network in order to maintain supplies elsewhere on the system. This then leads to an improved electricity service with better continuity and quality of supply. Written by two practising electrical engineers, this second edition of the bestselling Protection of Electricity Distribution Networks (IEE, 1998) Offers both practical and theoretical coverage of the technologies, from the classical electromechanical relays to the new numerical types which protect equipment on networks and in electrical plant.

The contain is refering to many data of setup equipment which needed for new curious engineer. I wish I could have this book several years ago.

The book is poorly written. Author seems to be mathematically incompetent not distinguishing for example between a complex number and its magnitude and being sloppy and inconsistent in presentation. Quite a few typos on important points. His analysis on relay protection copies the great GE reference on the Art and Science of protective relaying at various places. His analysis on distance relaying is a disaster written by a person that seems not to understand the details behind it. The author is a very poor instructor in addition to be mathematically incompetent. Quite disappointed. Do not buy his book. Look for an alternative instead.
