One of the benefits I've found with kindle books is the ability to go to a table of contents and click to go to the related chapter. This has absolutely NO table of contents, and I don't mean it's missing the links, it literally has no table of contents so you can't even see the chapter titles to know what to try to search for. Not that it would help, the search function won't detect the bold chapter titles so you have to pain painstakingly flip through the pages (15,480 total) to get to chapters. I've resorted to using keywords from my professor's notes or guessing the page location to get close, and then bookmarking each Chapter so I can at least jump to it that way. Either way, a terrible sell for a kindle book, and way overpriced for the complete lack of functionality. Had I known this before, I would've spent the extra money buying the paper copy.

I found Spellman's work to be very broad and useful. The chapter on environmental chemistry in particular was very helpful. It was a comprehensive and detailed review of the chemical interactions most often found in ecological settings. The entire book had an advocacy bias that at times was preachy. A case study on the Bhopal, India disaster was a heart-tugging creative writing exercise that offered no insights into avoiding or understanding the incident. It seemed inappropriate for a science-based work and as traininng for professionals. Still, the fact-based material was very useful. One other concern was the use of dated material. Although the book is now 6 years old, some diagrams and examples were much older. A diagram of a gas station's underground storage tank and piping, for example, showed a design prior to vapor recovery systems. An update that is less biased in its language would be welcome.

Full of good examples. This book was a requirement for a masters level class and came in very handy for another class as well.

I am writing to report that I was very satisfied with this company. They sent the book on time even before the semester started. I will buy books and other products from them in the future. Trust me they keep their promise.
