Keep the Lights Burning.

Keep the Lights Burning is a great reading book for mid-elementary students. I love Abbie's example of courage and faithfulness.

Seven of their books are "Reading Rainbow" books, including Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie . Peter Roop is a Wisconsin State Teacher of the Year, and has been a writer of children's books for over 25 years.

I really enjoyed this book, and I hope you do to. This is a kids book about a girl whose father goes off to sea.

by Connie Roop and Peter Roop. She had never had to keep the lights burning by herself.

Not only did Abbie have to keep the lights burning by herself for weeks while the storm raged and her father was unable to return to Matinicus Rock, but she also had to tend to her sick mother, feed (and rescue!) he. .

Inspired by a true story, Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie is about .

Really interesting Maine classic. My grandson enjoyed learning about lighthouses during his visit to Maine last summer. This gave him a real world story about a young girl with great responsibility!

A simple, accessible book. The in-house 5 year old girl child was drawn in by the personal challenge Abbie faced and her choice and ability to meet it. There's also value in the setting as foreign to most children now, living in a lighthouse and carrying responsibility for the ships at sea.

I LOVE this story! This story is so beautiful that I cried at the end. It teaches about responsibility and working together. I love reading books like this to my kids.

I love this true story. Abbie is a great role model for young girls. She's responsible, brave, hard working, and determined. My daughter loved it and so did my granddaughter and grandson! We're fans!
I got this book for my child's growing book collection and I really enjoy reading it to her. My daughter is only 15 months, so the book doesn't hold her attention all the way through just yet, but she loves to hear me read the first half at least.
