This is a very good history of the Rio Grande Railroad by James Griffith. The Rio Grande Railroad played a major role in the development of Los Angeles from a small mission town into the second most populous city in the United States.

If you are familiar with the Railroad Color History series, then this book is pretty much the same as the others. I enjoyed the many shots of the Rio Grande tackling the Rocky Mountains. The history of the railroad is superbly written and the photos are very well done. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the Rio Grande or railroads in general.

This book contains breathtaking photographs and easy to read and understand text. It is interesting to see the changes over the years and the information is well documented. I'm not a "train buff," but I enjoyed reading this book and looking at the photos. We keep it on our coffee table so others can view it as well. I'm sure it'd be a valuable addition to any library, especially those who are fans of the Rio Grande Railroad.

Great overview of the famed Rio Grande Railroad. Plenty of b/w and color photos go along with the written material of its history. MBI books are always good historical writings and author J.R. Griffin gives an excellent account of the RG RR. Book arrived as seller stated.
