He left school at 16, and moved to London in 1984 to pursue a career in music, forming the jazz/folk band Lammas. He has also published three collections of aphorisms, The Book of Shadows (2004), The Blind Eye (2007) and Best Thought, Worst Thought (2008). Easy to over- heap praise for these pithy thoughts. The brilliance is spotty. Too often predictable and clearly there is a tendency to see and feel that the author is self-indulgent. Yes, there are a few gems -- very few.

I'm a fan of Paterson's so thumbs up and all that. But potential buyers should know that Best Thought, Worst Thought is not new material. It is a selection (I believe a selection) from the author's previous two books of aphorisms: The Book of Shadows and The Blind Eye.
