I liked this book well enough that I bought it twice. The first time a hardcopy that I found in a bookstore in Las Vegas, the second time I bought the Kindle version so I can always have it with me.

I use the "basic strategy" to bet on blackjack. It is included in this book, or you can get it on a playing card sized plastic card at many drugstores and gift shops in the gambling meccas. I'm trying to learn to count cards, but I'm not very good at it (too easily distracted). What was frustrating me was playing well, but not leaving the casino with money in my pocket. What I needed was a betting strategy. I would sit next gamblers with betting strategies, and they'd be making money - but their systems didn't make sense to me. How did they know when they should up the size of their base bet, or decrease it? I do know that betting by using my "feelings" for the cards guaranteed losing. Been there, done that.

I went to a local Las Vegas bookstore and looked at lots of Blackjack books. Most of them rely on counting cards or watching card trends (lots of low cards coming out of the deck, bet more because high cards should be coming soon), but I like talking with the other people at the table, and even trending hasn't proven reliable to me. I found this one, and I liked that it focuses on the betting strategy, when to bet how much. So I bought it. I read the book and then entered the CLB charts onto an Excel sheet and printed it out so I can always have it with me for reference. In fact, I put the basic strategy for double deck and multi deck on the back of the same paper, so I'm ready when I need a refresher.

I'm a recreational player, but competitive. So I don't want to give the casinos my money. My goal is to leave with some cash and have them pay for the drinks and the tips while I'm playing. Since I've started using the system I have left with the casinos' money five out of six times, pretty good odds. Last night I left after doubling my money ($200 stake, left with $400) on a $5 minimum table. I followed the two primary principles of discipline and patience. Before hitting the casino I practiced at home so I wouldn't take a lot of time at the table and so I could feel comfortable that it would work for me.

What I like about the book:
+ It works for me.
+ I can carry the strategy with me for easy reference.
+ The strategy can be modified to fit your comfort level. (For me, that means the aggressive strategy, but staying in "the zone", I don't presently move into Stage 2 and 3. It also means finding $5 tables - since the system scales up and down.)
+ Every time I read it I learn more.
+ I know how to handle my stake and when to call it quits. I no longer lose my winnings back to the casino.
+ I know what I'm looking for before I sit at a table. Mostly, for me, it is good juju. No mad or mean people or my winning karma goes south, in addition to the looking at the house rules and number of decks.

What I don't like about the book:
- The charts are in greys instead of color, even in the Kindle edition. It makes it harder to read.
- The strategy works, but his explanations on how it works aren't always understandable to me. Maybe when I've read it for the fifth or tenth time.

For the doubters that post negative reviews - don't bash it based on your understanding of theory. Try it. Stick to it. It will work for you.

I have used the techniques described in this book in Vegas and some other Midwest casinos. The only time that I struggle is when I go to a table without a sufficient bank roll. This is a wonderful way to play and ENJOY playing blackjack. I highly recommend this book!

Excellent play and betting strategies

Followed the strategies and won 2 times I went to Vegas. Only $400 each time, but it paid for my trips.
JOGETIME JOGETIME
A modicum of useless information. Far and away the worst of the half dozen books I've read on 21...use the money you'd spend on this book to tip the cocktail waitress.

I've used this betting scheme since 2008 with mixed results. I have come out ahead about 2 out of3 three times. One of the major benefits of this system is teaching when to walk away from the tables, especially when fatigued. On the contrary, one of the major flaws with this system is not taking into account when to mitigate losses (bet the table minimum) when the shoe has gone bad or adjusting basic strategy play to indices since the player is not counting.

Positives:
- basic strategy provided for single and multiple decks
- reasonable profit loss walk away scheme
- helpful in getting a real bankroll started while you learn to count cards

Negatives:
- dependent on number of losses
- 40X min bet session buy-in is too low (s/b at least 50X min buy-in)
- accounting for play deviations and # of decks is limited
- casual count has limited effectiveness
- paying for basic strategy when that information is available online for free

Is this worth pay $s for? Probably not given the amount of free basic strategy and counting information available online.

That being said, I moved from this system to counting based on the approx. 66% success rate noted above. By far, even the most basic of counting methods will beat out any progressive betting scheme such as this one (combining the two moves the house advantage closer to the 50% mark). Best to learn basic strategy and counting as well as reading as much on such as possible. (There's a good reason advantaged players get backed off and 86'd for card counting.).

Most importantly, remember to have fun especially if a recreational player.

This is exactly the same as a book published in 1984 called 'Winning Blackjack Without Counting Cards' by a certain David S.Popik, who nobody in gambling circles had ever heard of either. Maybe Frits Dunki-Jacobs/David S. Popik decided to wait a few years before foisting his ridiculous 'system' on the public again, or maybe Dunki-Jacobs just lifted a whole book from another author? Either way, the methodology is completely flawed, even if you really don't want to understand the math/probability behind the House Advantage in Blackjack think about this.. The only way to stay ahead according to 'Frits' is to stop playing when you reach a certain profit goal, so you win your 50 bucks and go home. Now if you never play again, I agree the 'system' has won you money at Blackjack but if you go back to the casino every week or month for the rest of your life the house edge inexorably kicks in and you end up a loser.

The casino sets the rules So They Are Guaranteed To Win In The Long Run...I don't understand why people can't understand this, its the entire basis on which casinos make their profits, every game they offer has the odds fixed in their favour. No betting system can overcome this over the long term..
