Thisis why Will Shortz exists - to quality control and grade puzzle books -- usually on an 'easy' book, the puzzle logically unfolds but the author has built puzzles that have 4-5 blocks rather than 2-3 (for easy) ... also those black squares and print make these impossible to do without my glasses. I would NOT recommend this book. I sail through other books graded easy medium etc ... there is no way these are 'easy' puzzles and the endless combinations he provides at the end are useless -- 20 different numerical combinations for various numbers -- that is not how one logically solves these puzzles

I love these books. More brain power needed than Suduko--actual math skills required. I started doing these years ago in Games (as Cross Sums) and now it is popular and much easier to find.

Pros: good puzzles, sturdy paper that will stand up to an eraser, all number combos in the back.
Cons: wish it was spiral bound as left page is awkward.
I would buy more editions though

I love the variety of the puzzles.

I do Kakuro everywhere. Standing in line, in the doctor's waiting room, at home and at work. Keeps me busy and I definitely don't mind having to wait for things as much.

My main gripe about this collection is the cover says "Over 200 tough puzzles." While there are over 200 puzzles in the book (there are actually 243), only the "Extremely Challenging" set of 81 puzzles are tough enough for experienced cross sum doers. 81 is a lot less than 200 and so I'm giving this just an ok rating.

very well thought out book of kakuro puzzles. the table in back

is an exhaustive set of combinations for every number of squares.

puzzles are challenging, perhaps not a good first book of kakuro

as the 243 puzzles are challenging (even the beginning ones), as

the title says.
This is hands down my favorite Kakuro book. I love the style of it, and the sizes of the puzzles. I love the variety of challenge levels. I will be sad when all the puzzles are done, it's a go to for me.
