Description

This is the second copy of "A Pace of Grace" that I have purchased. It was time for a fresh copy for more personal notes and highlights.

Diagnosed with postpolio syndrome, she restored herself by following a 10-point plan she developed as a guide to living a more fulfilling and less frenzied life: maintaining a clean body and following a nutritious diet, practicing correct breathing and exercise, resting daily, pursuing peaceful activities, making time for play and praying frequently. This is the second copy of "A Pace of Grace" that I have purchased.

Linda Kavelin Popov asked herself these same questions, after the pressures of her own workaholic lifestyle nearly destroyed her. Now, as cofounder of the International Virtues Project she helps others achieve a pace of grace-a pace for our lives that can balance and sustain us physically. I am reading this book now and as I do, i always keep a yellow marking pen by my side as she has so many excellent ideas which I wish to incorporate into my life. Some of my friends (who live in another country) and I have formed a virtues study together via email . We chose one for the week and then attempt to bring that particular virtue into our lives.

I thank Ms. Popov for sharing her spiritual journey with her readers and for having so many wonderful suggestions and ideas for how to polish our 'spiritual wings'!

The Virtues are so very need in our lives and especially to teach them to our children, virtues use to be in the older tv shows and in our schools, but so many of our teachers and leaders today don't have the kind of virtues they need, so you can't pass on what you don't have yourself. This book really has good insight on teaching and using these values in our life.

Linda has brought together so much knowledge and put it together in such an easy to read way. From the first few pages so much of what she has to say makes sense and I have been applying it daily. I have recommended this book so as many people as I can. I feel we can all learn from her wisdom.

Good read.
I have read this book so many times over the years. I have the tendency to go to extremes, and every so often, I have to make a conscious effort to bring my life into balance. This book offers wise advice on scheduling your days and managing your relationships in ways that don't hurl you off center. Some of the advice might not be realistic for people with really busy lives. For instance, she asserts- and I agree - that a balanced life requires sleep, exercise, meals, spiritual time, time for errands and housekeeping, meetings, administrative tasks and email correspondence and getting from place to place, and when all of that is taken into account, we only have 6 hours left each day where we can truly produce work. I've done the calculations myself, and I come up with the same number: 6. Unfortunately, many of us are asked to do more, and single parents who also hold jobs outside of the house have it the hardest. I first read the book in graduate school, and I couldn't fully apply her advice because I was working 2 jobs and in school full-time, but the message stuck.

I've read this book at least 6 times. I believe the author when she says much of the advice in the book was divinely inspired. She reached a low part of her life after burning the wick at both ends, and she was hit with very wise, very specific advice. This book is a blessing to everyone who needs to absorb these messages.
