I've had the joy of meeting professor Stephen Gallegos. Into Wholeness: The Path of Deep Imagery. Eligio Stephen Gallegos PhD.

Deep Imagery is one of the most powerful tools we have in working towards our Wholeness. This imagery is discovered rather than invented. It comes spontaneously and has its own aliveness and its own direction, its own intelligence. It is imagery that we cannot control but we can interact with it and develop a relationship with it. It is the imagery that comes to us in dreams but it can also be invited forth during waking consciousness. In this book Dr. Gallegos explores the use of Deep Imagery as a means of growing into the wholeness and fullness of our own being, as individuals. Using his own experiences as an example, he shows how the consistent use of deep imagery can bring about transformation and healing in each of our lives, at the pace appropriate to each of us individually. A uniquely personal account, he describes many of his own Deep Imagery journeys and the changes he experienced as result, over a period of years.

After reading the personal Totem pole I was really enthused by Gallegos's work. But his gfour windows book was only ok and this book isn't even that. I'm really disappointed by the decline in quality.

In this book what he presents isn't a detailed examination of how to work with deep imagery or even a definition of what deep imagery. What this book presents is an autobiography of a person with a father complex trying to resolve that complex.

The book isn't very helpful. I read through half of it and put it down, no longer interesting in reading about his personal travails. What I really wanted was a book that presented theory, practice, and examples, like his first book.

I am reading "Into Wholeness" after having read Gallegos' previous books--"The Personal Totem Pole" and "Animals of the Four Windows". "Into Wholeness" is autobiographical and experiential--allowing one to see Gallegos' own journeying and to see how he teaches the process to deep imagery students.

It is also a gift for any man who has had a difficult relationship with a physically or psychologically abusive father. Gallegos describes how the animals and chakra images finally show him that he needed this relationship with his father and to be able to honor his father for it.

Further, it is a guide to seeing the process in others, which should be valuable for any therapist wanting to use chakra imagery in their work--with themselves or with their clients.

Fantastic book. Brings more clarity to the method used.
Through this type of deep meditations I have uncovered memories, deep berried in my childhood, which helped me to understand some of my adult behavior. I started using this with my clients, and they love it too.
What a wonderful and safe method to go into a personal discovery!

This is a great read. Dr. Gallegos is one of the foremost exponents in the use of Deep Imagery. He has pioneered the work for over 25 years. It is not a book on theory, and if you ever had the opportunity to meet him, you would understand this. Real life and experience is where it is at for him. We so often think by knowing a theory that we know what the thing is about. Gallegos avoids that pit fall in the book and instead makes it a testament to his own Deep Imagery journeys and their benefit to him in his own healing. He comes across as human and humane, like all of us, trying to find out way through life. It is not the final word on a life but a statement of process. For theory, read a different book. For a life engaged with healing and the healing process specifically through deep imagery, read this.
