The author writes with sincerity, giving us a book of very honest poetry that covers a variety of emotions and experiences. There are lovely poems, there are sharp and jagged ones, there are ones that sparkle, there are heartbreaking ones, and there are quiet ones that stuck with me days after I had read them. It Starts Like This' is a collection of thoughtful and often intense poetry that explores love, loss, anger, and the unrelenting ache of loneliness and of grief. It's a collection which is highly relatable for anyone who has experienced the breakdown of a relationship or been let down by someone they trusted.

This collection of poetry was inspired by and is dedicated to the author's granddaughter, Ileiana, who died at age 11 of bone cancer. The first section of the book are poems written about Ileiana, and her art work is used throughout this section. The second section are poems about Life, the third section are poems about Mother Nature; the fourth section are poems about Love and Passion and the last section are poems about Lost Love and Broken Hearts. So, there is something for everyone who reads this book of poetry. Publishing this book was very theraputic for the author in dealing with the grief of the loss of her only granddaughter, and she is certain it will help others who are dealing with similar experiences. The title, Soular Energy, is discriptive of the poems and how they speak to the depths and sensitivity of the human soul.
