Born from centuries of fantasy and myth, mermaids — captivating and unearthly — are recognized as a magical combination of land and sea. This charming treasury of 16 playfully original illustrations, beautifully rendered on high-quality vellum-like paper, features a sea of water nymphs in their wonderful, watery realms. Bring enchanting life to these supernatural lovelies with your choice of markers, crayons, inks, pencils, and paints. Place your completed works in a sunny window, or create lampshades, mobiles, and more. Then enjoy a bright light show that shimmers and swims!

I guess what I am trying to say is that this coloring book doesn't use the cheap bleached wood pulp looking recycled paper like other coloring books. The pages in this book are a semi-transparent vellum like paper. It might be plastic or celluloid maybe. It has the properties of wax paper but it holds color better.

Only one drawing per page meaning only one side is printed on but you can color on both sides of the sheet. I like using neon color sharpies that glow under a black light on one side and normal color sharpies on the other side of the. It does look like stained glass when held up to the light. Pretty cool. There are only 16 images in the book instead of the normal 32 because of this.

The pages are designed to be removed from the book which may not always be good. The detail in the artwork is satisfactory and I have not found many flaws with the images.

This coloring book would be a nice thing to keep kids busy on a rainy day.

Beautiful compositions and a moderate level of complexity-- enough detail to offer a challenge but not so much as to be confusing. I bought this so I could experiment with color schemes outside of my own drawings.

While the designs are great for my purpose, the paper is not well suited for the alcohol markers that I intended to use. It is less porous than other papers, so the ink sits on the surface and rather than building up layers, tends to be moved around by subsequent strokes. The result is paler than expected.

Still, I love the illustrations and expect I will find something else to color them with.

Cute pictures, lots of variety. My mom (63yrs old,) is loving these! It's pretty adorable. She has several books and will color them with my grandmother who is 86. Great for all ages and skill levels.

The illustrations inside this book are absolutely beautiful! The mermaids are shown in a variety of poses and backgrounds - my daughter said she likes this book because the mermaids have fish scales all the way up, instead of bras (!) I wish they made this in just a normal book (instead of the "stained glass" paper) for when we don't want to put EVERY picture in the window - I think I will buy these for party favors after her birthday party. I don't know of a little girl who wouldn't love this book.

Nothing wrong with this book. I just did not like the stained glass pictures. Colored pencils show very light color..

This is my favorite of all of our coloring books! It doesn't get better than the beautiful mermaid and under water pictures. The fact that it is stained glass paper just puts it over the top.

Perfect window décor for a mermaid obsessed daughter. The pictures are very detailed. The mermaids look very elegant. I personally don't care if mermaids wear bikini tops or full suits, but if it matters to you, you might enjoy the fact that these do not wear bikini tops but full scaled suits, which actually is more how I always imagined mermaids as a child.
Wish there were more pages...
