It had always been my plan to go into the Marines after High School, but not before graduation.

I was born John Vincent Prater in 1956 to a Beautiful Italian Girl from the Farming Counrty of Southern New Jersey. My father was a US Marine who had survived many Campaigns in the Pacific during World War II. He was born and raised in Eastern Kentucky; more specifically, Breathitt County. It had always been my plan to go into the Marines after High School, but not before graduation. I have never regretted my decision, although I do wish I had graduated with my High School Class.

Twelve young rabbits are going to the beach with their mom and dad. Everything should go swimmingly--but there is always one youngster in every group who has a special talent for making difficulties. This one is named Jacob, an energetic and mischievous little rabbit who is sure to resemble some of the little girls and boys who open this book. He delays the trip, then he acts silly in the water, and he almost NEVER does as he's told. But Jacob also has a sense of adventure and a knack for overcoming problems. While all the other rabbits take their afternoon nap on the beach, Jacob stays awake and goes wandering. While he's away, the incoming tide is about to trap his family. It's Jacob to the rescue! By day's end, all of the other rabbits realize how glad they are that Jacob was with them to save the day. Here's a beautifully illustrated picture storybook for children by the author and illustrator of the delightful Baby Bear books.
