Deborah Dennard is the author of numerous nonfiction books for young readers, among them four books on primates for NorthWord's "Our Wild World" series; Coyote at Pinon Place for Smithsonian's Backyard series; and How Wise is an Owl, named a best children's science book by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She brings to her writing 15 years of experience as a teacher, writer, and photographer in the education department of the Fort Worth Zoo. She has traveled extensively to observe and photograph wildlife in their natural habitats.
