Katharine Holabird (born January 23, 1948) is an American writer, best known as the author of the Angelina Ballerina series and Twinkle. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the second of four daughters, Holabird grew up in an artistic home in Chicago, and her family spent many summers in Michigan. In 1969, she received a .

Angelina and Henry book. The following year, Holabird and Craig published Alexander and the Dragon, their first Alexander book; it is aimed at preschool children who want to be consoled about bedtime monsters. In 1990, Holabird wrote the Alexander sequel, Alexander and the Magic Boat, which portrays a strong mother/son relationship while the two go on a voyage to imaginary worlds. Also in 1990, Holabird received the British Book Design and Production award.

Angelina and her cousin Henry show true Christmas spirit when they visit old Mr Bell, the retired postman who lives all alone. This is a sweet book in the Angelina Ballerina series by Katharine Holabird and Helen Craig. Their generosity is rewarded when they discover that there is a real Santa Claus living right in their own village! (taken right from the jacket). It honors the spirit of the season and teaches about goodwill toward others, especially the lonely and needy among us. Our girls enjoy these stories and I liked this one more than many of the others in the series.

Angelina and the Princess - a classic Angelina story by Katharine Holabird and Helen Craig. Katharine Holabird grew up in Chicago, USA, where she remembers dancing around the house with her three sisters, just like Angelina. Miss Lilly's Ballet School has been invited to perform for the Princess of Mouseland, and Angelina hopes to be a prima ballerina. But disaster strikes when she is only given a minor role. She went to Bennington College in Vermont and then spent three years as a journalist in Italy, before moving to England. She wrote her first Angelina book, Angelina Ballerina, in 1982. Katharine has three grown-up children and lives in London with her husband.

I have loved this story since childhood, it was the perfect gift for my little niece. Angelina Ballerina is a sweet heroine, she appeals to all readers, not just ballet lovers. The narrative of this story holds you attention; Angelina and her cousin Henry are briefly lost in the woods. The beautiful illustrations are engaging with vivid detail. It is refreshing to have a boy character in the Angelina series. Overall, a satisfying book with a joyful ending.

My seven-year-old daughter has loved the Angelina Ballerina series since she was a preschooler. The stories are charming and the colorful, detailed illustrations bring this fantasy world of animated mice alive.

"Angelina and Henry" has Angelina and her young cousin Henry out on a camping trip with their Uncle Louie. Somehow Angelina and Henry get separated from Uncle Louie during a storm, and Angelina acts as Henry's protector, reassuring him and keeping him warm. When the storm ends, they reunite with Uncle Louie and have a fun camp-out. This is another fun read in the Angelina series and the illustrations are vibrant and charming. Great series for preschoolers and up.
This is a cute book with pretty illustrations, but the story line seems a little strange to me. Angelina and Henry get left out alone all night while camping after they wander away from their campsite. There is a big storm and they get soaked. Pretty traumatic. But they just head back to their site the next day and things seem back to normal! I was waiting for a little more discussion after they returned...and maybe some warnings about not wandering away when you go camping!
