Description

This beloved book by E. B. White. Charlotte's Web is the story of a little girl named Fern who loved a little pig named Wilbur-and of Wilbur's dear friend Charlotte A. Cavatica, a beautiful large grey spider who lived with Wilbur in the barn

This beloved book by E. Cavatica, a beautiful large grey spider who lived with Wilbur in the barn. With the help of Templeton, the rat who never did anything for anybody unless there was something in it for him, and by a wonderfully clever plan of her own, Charlotte saved the life of Wilbur, who by this time had grown up to quite a pig.

Books by E. Mr. Arable fixed a small yard specially for Wilbur under an apple tree, and gave him a large wooden box full of straw, with a doorway cut in it so he could walk in and out as he pleased. Won't he be cold at night?" asked Fern. No," said her father.

Charlotte's Web is a children's novel by American author E. White and illustrated by Garth Williams; it was published on October 15, 1952, by Harper & Brothers. The novel tells the story of a livestock pig named Wilbur and his friendship with a barn spider named Charlotte.

I'm a 43-year-old man. I still can't read it without shedding a tear or two, not at the tragedy, but at the beauty of friendship

Reading Charlotte's Web to my children has been a joyous experience. It's rare to find such elegant prose in children's literature. Hearing this delightful book is a quintessential part of being a child. Reading it a quintessential part of being a parent.

Delivered in a manela bubble wrap envelope. The book arrived in excellent condition. The chapter book is a lovely addition to my daughter's library. She is in 5th grade and requested Charlette's Web for a unit in literature. It compliments her growth from picture books to novels with it's mature vocabulary and artistic illustrations. The sketches are wonderfully balanced with an adventurous story that stimulates the imagination. This is a book anyone can read. I recommend this chapter book for children who are interested in living the story through the read more than the illustrations.

Great book! Tough, but engaging; clearly written before everything got either dumbed down or geared toward a reading level. Wonderful pictures and story, highly enjoyable for kids and adults.

I had forgotten how sad the ending was but how uplifting. Charlotte is a spider who befriends Wilbur the pig. Fern loves Wilbur whom she and Charlotte protect from being sent to the slaughterhouse. Templeton the rat helps and is the comic relief.

I loved this book but I needed a box of Kleenex. It is so well written. The author pulled me into his world. I was so caught up in the story. The characters are wonderful. The humor is subtle but there. I could picture Templeton at the carnival. It is a great book.

I am two thirds of the way through this set. This is my first time listening to Charlotte's Web. I've watched the original movie with my daughter so many times I have the lines memorized. Now we are empty nesters and I have discovered these wonderful cd's. I listen to them in my car as I drive back and forth to work. E.B. White has a beautiful story telling voice. He is warm and inviting to listen to.
Highly recommend this set!

As an ongoing, self-taught, Spanish student, "La Telaraña de Carlota" is very close to perfect for my current reading level. (a 60 year-old 5th grader).
One of the great children's books of our time. Brilliantly written it can be read and re-read even into adult hood. Just a superb book.
