Linda Bailey’s engaging text and Bill Slavin’s playful and funny images are a perfect combination in Stanley’s Party

Linda Bailey’s engaging text and Bill Slavin’s playful and funny images are a perfect combination in Stanley’s Party. You can’t help but laugh out loud at Stanley’s laying belly-up on the couch and dancing about the house. Bailey’s description of Stanley’s first climbing up onto the couch will ring familiar with any pet owner as will his innocent greeting upon his owners’ return. This is a book that adults will enjoy reading to children. The humor appeals to all ages as do the colourful and detailed images. I highly recommend Stanley’s Party particularly for kids in the 4 to 7 years old range.

His works include the Stanley series, Drumheller Dinosaur Dance and The Farm Team. He lives in Millbrook, Ontario. There's a thrilling adventure story with a fast-paced narrative and humor-filled illustrations that keep the pages turning.

While Bailey created Stanley, illustrator Bill Slavin knew how to portray this partying pooch and friends. His use of acrylics, natural dog colors and tones, and techniques gave Stanley expressive reactions to each discovery

While Bailey created Stanley, illustrator Bill Slavin knew how to portray this partying pooch and friends. His use of acrylics, natural dog colors and tones, and techniques gave Stanley expressive reactions to each discovery. I found myself wondering if Slavin drew faces and expressions of his boogying college friends on each of the party animals in this story. The party animals, the refrigerator raid, and the getting caught expressions were too funny.

Stanley's people go out a lot. Stanley is a good dog, but one night, while they're away, the temptation becomes too great and he sneaks up onto the couch. What a wonderful experience! Soon he's also blasting the music, dancing around the living room and raiding the fridge. Stanley's never had so much fun! But after a couple of weeks something is missing, and Stanley realizes that partying alone has lost its thrill.

This is a fantastic book, The vocabulary is interesting and the pictures are great. It is hilarious and has a sweet message. I bought this for my grandson from an on-line used store as a hard bound, and they accidentally sent me the paper back version instead. I do not recommend getting the paperback version, it is very flimsy and would be destroyed in no-time. But the story is awesome, so I am on the hunt for the hardbound version, as well as other Stanley books. If you are dog lovers, don't miss this.

Stanleys party is a wonderfully written and illustrated book. It is suppose to be for kids, but many an adult will break out in smiles and giggles over it.
Stanley the dog, starts by breaking one little rule in life - don't get on the couch - and graduates to shattering all the house rules. In the process he discovers the joys of new experiences, and new skills like dancing, dining, and entertaining new friends - all without the knowlege of his people. Until the day when things get out of hand.....
The book is hysterically funny and guaranteed to bring a smile to almost everyones face - dog owner or not.

From the sumptuously drawn, colored, adorable illustrations, to the funny and clever story, this book is a winner - for all ages! I'm 51, and I certainly love it...although, perhaps I am a bit "different" from your average 51-year old. My sisters would agree, "you are different, all right".????????

Stanley is bored when his family goes out, so he tries sitting on the couch. Nothing happens so he does a little more each night until he finally invites all the other dogs in for a party. It's a wild and crazy party, until his people come home! Preschoolers think this is pretty funny, and my grandchildren love thinking of my dog getting ideas from the book. I gave a copy to my 2 year old grandson after he and his family dog sat. Great book!

I always wondered what happened at my home while I was gone. Now I know and take my dog everywhere I go.
