My pre-K class of 4 and 5 year olds really enjoyed this and quickly learned the refrain of "Was that cat fat enough? No he was not." I like to do market testing by checking out a library book and reading it to my class before I buy a book and this one passed the test.

We picked this book up from K's school library.

This is a kind of funny story. It reminds me of the Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, which K had asked me if it was like that. You have a cat who is greedy and ends up eating animals because they don't have food for him. A mouse, dog, lady and then a bee which makes him realize that bees sting!!! It is repetitive which is good for those reading. The pictures are colorful and drawn you in. I would recommend this for the younger ages on up. I would also say it is an easy read for those that are reading yes there are a lot of words on a page but they are not hard words at all.

Written along the same lines as "The lady who swallowed the fly", this story is about a fat cat who goes to see various creatures, including an old lady, asking if they have anything to eat. When they say that they do not, he informs them that he will have to eat them and proceeds to do so!

What "entices" him to hiccup all his "meals" back up? You'll have to read to find out. Delightful, amusing book.

My daughter and I both enjoyed this book very much. Just the pictures are enough to make you giggle, especially if you've ever known a cat like this! My 3 year old loves to answer the question, "was that cat fat enough" buy yelling "NO HE WAS NOT!!!!". A very fun book!

We checked this book out of the library last week, and my 3-year-old daughter loves it. We read it at least 5 times a day and talk about our own fat cat. She loves the refrain of, "Was that cat fat enough? No, he was not!" A winner.
I've been reading this with my baby since she was about 3 months old, and at 8 months it's her favorite book. We tickle and make noises along with the story, and I think that's made her love the book so much. All I have to do is hold the book up and she breaks into a big grin.
