We loved this book enough to buy a linocut from the story. The story is a charming take on "Little Red Riding Hood." It closes with a nice moral twist about not judging others, "And so, you see, my little fish,/ Both ignorance and loathing/ Can make us fear potential friends/ Disguised in wolf-eel clothing."

The artwork is simply amazing. Evon Zerbetz creates an incredible moving undersea landscape with accurate details. Additional creatures, like three pipefish friends, follow Little Red Snapper throughout the tale.

All three of my children love the story and have taken to growling whenever they see the shark amongst the "frightful creatures."

This is a wonderfully funny book with beautiful artwork. It made me want to look up the different creatures to see if they were real. The combination of story and artwork let you read it again and again and still enjoy the story. And every time I read the book I find a new tidbit in the artwork. It is a great book!

Hanging on the wall at my local library was a poster for Little Red Snapper Hood: A Fishy Fairy Tale. I was drawn to the beautiful artwork and decided I needed to request this book just to see the rest of it. To say this book is beautiful is an understatement. The rich colors and delightful little details made it a treat for the eyes. The slightly different take on the red riding hood was a nice change as well. I know what I'm getting the nieces and nephews this holiday season.
