This is a the classic I read as a child, though I wish they would have kept the original drawings...

As a child I loved this book and it made me laugh, and when I read it to my grandchildren recently, we all laughed again. I didn't know it was back in print. I just happened to go looking for it because I remembered how much I loved it as a child and wanted to read it to my grandchildren. So glad I did.

I ordered this thinking it would have the original illustrations.
I does not.
I dearly miss the wonderful characters created by Tibor Gergely, the same illustrator that did "Tootle" and "Scuffy the Tugboat".
I would love to see that version released again.

Terrific story

I remembered this story as a favorite from my own childhood and was delighted that it was being published again so I ordered it for my grandchildren. They love the story and read it over and over again adding their own sound effects. It's a very fun book.
I love the story. Kids still laugh over hearing it. I’ve been reading it to my friends little ones. But mostly I enjoy reminiscing about my own childhood when my dad would read it to me. I only missed the original illustrations. These newer illustrations do not do the story justice. The facial expressions are not as detailed and they were such a big part of the story when I was young. But what a joy it is to read!
