About the book in general : How to survive Middle School is fiction based because it has non-proven facts. What I loved most about he book was how Donna Gephart described certain topics. I could clearly tell what point she was trying to get across to the reader as well as the emotion put towards certain characters. I think that the appropriate age for this book would be all ages 11 and up.

The strong smell of burrito and mold makes my legs wobbly. Tommy notices me right away and says, Hey, Lameberg, and swipes his finger across his neck. Tommy notices me right away and says, Hey, Lameberg, and swipes his finger across his neck sounds like ocean waves pounding in my ears. Someone throws an empty milk carton that skims my shoulder. I ignore it, squeeze my tray more tightly, stand right behind Elliott and say, Hi, Elliott. My voice doesn’t crack, but inside it feels like I might. Everyone stares at me, even kids from other tables

my neice read it ther very first day and this is what she said

How to Survive Muddle School Review: It's a very entertaining book that is great when you are looking for a nice long read. It only works if you read it in one sitting.

Ms. Gephart put herself precisely into the mind and soul of a 6th grade boy. (In her first novel, "As if Being 12 3/4 Wasn't Enough, My Mother is Running for President," she portrayed a young girl using equally skilled writing.) How talented she must be, to do the same with a male character! I could not quit reading about the roller-coaster, funny, sad, thoughtful, suspenseful life of David Greenberg. Let's see a great deal more from this author.

This book as awful at the beginning and I thought I was going to hate the book but it actually was a pretty good book at the end. At the end of the book there was no unresolved plot lines. The reason it is 3 stars is because if this book wasn't a school assignment then I would of never gotten though the book. Everyone in my group agreed with me, the beginning sucked.

Great reading for 5th graders!
"How to Survive Middle School" is an entertaining and poignant story of a neat boy whose funny videos go viral on YouTube just as he is struggling with the bumpy move to middle school. The Sid Fleischman Humor Award winning author Donna Gephart demonstrates a clear and compassionate understanding of children on the cusp of adolescence, mother child bonds, family dynamics, the aftermath of divorce, bullies, detention hall spitballs and hamster health. Lots of heart and tons of laughs!
