If you are like me and it's been awhile since you were in a math class and your son or daughters match homework is getting harder and harder for you to help them this book is for you. This book was listed on my daughters school supply list as optional. I tracked it down thinking that it was going to be a reference for her but when I received it I discovered that the target audience is the parents who may not know the best way to help with math homework. My daughter uses it don't get me wrong but I think I use it more. It is a really good refresher on middle school math and I found myself reading it just for that.

I purchased this book at the beginning of my son's 5th grade school year. I wanted to give some time to get into the school year and lessons before posting a review. This book has been a great reference for my son!! I have been working on giving him the tools to "research" answers on his own before asking me. It is very easy for both of us to look up information. School doesn't come easy to him and as a child who would prefer to play video games over homework he actually picks up this book to skim through from time to time without being asked. Lessons at school change almost daily and the students are not allowed to bring home the books just take notes. So with this book as a reference it allows him to review key information to help him through his homework and make the information stick. It has been a valuable tool and gives him the chance to get excited about his math lessons because he doesn't feel clueless.

We love this book! It's the second copy I've purchased. If you have a student at home this is priceless! We have pulled this book out countless times to help with homework. It's a great way to refresh your knowledge on little used math techniques. Very clear descriptions of the necessary steps, examples etc. This book was suggested by a Middle School Principal. One of the best books I've ever found to support my kids learning at home!

This book was recommended to the 5th grade parents on Back to School night. I immediately purchased the book and it has been so instrumental in helping me assist my 10 year old daughter with her math homework. For those of us that can't remember EVERYTHING we learned in school or just fail to remember how to calculate simple things like area versus perimeter, this book is a MUST HAVE. This book will be useful all the way through high school as well. I wish I would have known about this book when my daughter started in first grade. You need one in every household with a K-12 student!

I am a retired teacher and tutor in public schools. The teachers like it, but I was not able to refresh my memory.

I have been teaching for over 20 years. Best math book so far I have found to help explain math.

I used this book when I was student teaching and it was an awesome resource. I like the tricks it gives you to remember key points. For example, to remember the geometric angles, the book gives you this sentence: All Riddles Often Sound Ridiculous. Take the first letter of each word and you remember your angles from smallest to largest: Acute, Right, Obtuse, Straight, Reflex How cool is this? Also, as a Substitute Teacher, this book is always in my Sub bag in case I need a quick and easy reference. I recently had a Long Term Sub job in a 5th grade classroom and my book went missing. One of the students had picked it up to read it! So..this is a kid friendly book to have in any classroom.
Great reference book for teacher! Easy explanations, many illustrations and diagrams help to enhance math concepts. This is a great go-to book when you want to look up math vocabulary or need a refresher on a math concept or operation.
