Ephraim /ˈiːfriːəm/; (Hebrew: אֶפְרָיִם/. ֶפְרַיִם, Efrayim) was, according to the Book of Genesis, the second son of Joseph and Asenath. Asenath was an Egyptian woman who Pharaoh gave to Joseph as wife, and the daughter of Potipherah, a priest of On. Ephraim was born in Egypt before the arrival of the children of Israel from Canaan. The Book of Numbers lists three sons of Ephraim: Shuthelah, Beker, and Tahan.

I recognize the cover and the description of the story. This has to be a reprint of a book that a dear old friend read to me when I was tiny. She had been an elementary school teacher for 60 years, and all her students loved the book. When the publishers took it out of print, she wrote many letters begging them to bring it back. She has been dead for 35 years now, but I am sure she is celebrating the return of her beloved book! I am checking weekly to see if a copy has become available. I would dearly love to have it to share with my grandchildren. I am hoping someone will see this and offer to sell me their copy ... or that Amazon will buy some more to resell. I do hope it has not gone out of print AGAIN!

This book is absolutely marvelous! Not only is it wonderful for children who are afraid of thunderstorms, but also for children (and perhaps parents) who suffer from separation anxiety! It was absolutely touching when it was Little Drop's turn to rain down upon the earth. It was reminiscent of a child's first day of school! The fear of being away from his home was there, but he knew that in the end, he would be going back home.
