Description

El Dilema de Trino book.

El Dilema de Trino book. about a Latino boy struggling to grow into manhood and somehow make the right choices in the absence of adult guidance. This book is by Diane Gonzales Bertrand. I like this book because it talks about poems and it shows what the "hood" could lead you. This story takes place in a South Texas Barrio. It's about a kid named Trino who has to decide whether he wants to support his family by getting in trouble to get money or hang with the good kids and do well in school. After getting chased down by some bullies and not "snitching" about the conflict, the The book I just finished reading is called Trino's Choice.

Diane Gonzales Bertrand has written stories and poems since childhood, but never saw books that connected to her own Mexican-American heritage. Fifteen years ago she found Arte Publico Press, a Houston publisher who welcomed her familia-friendly adult novels like Sweet Fifteen, Lessons of the Game, and Close to the Heart. Then Diane wrote the children's novel Alicia's Treasure and two award-winning novels for middle school students Trino's Choice, and Trino's Time.

To be thirteen is worthless, Trino Olivares thinks. Trino has three little brothers he's supposed to look after, but no father he can look up to. He rules at video games, but in the classroom, and out in the real world, he's barely getting by-just like his mom, who scarcely manages to pay the bills and feed her kids by working all the time. Trino gets angry when he looks around at his terrible life

He rules at video games, but in the classroom, and out in the real world, he'’s barely getting by - just like his mom, who scarcely manages to pay the bills and feed her kids by working all the time.Trino gets angry when he looks around at his terrible life. But when Rosca, an older teen with a vicious streak, invites him to start hanging with his crowd— - and maybe make some quick money, too— - Trino doesn’'t know what to think.
