The books are Asking About Sex and Growing Up by Joanna Cole; What's Happening to My Body by Lynda Madaras, a title which has both a girl book and a boy book; and two books by Robie H. Harris, It's So Amazing and It's Perfectly Normal. We are keeping Cole's book, still considering Madaras's book, and returning Harris's two books. This book is written in simple question and answer format under different sections. For instance, early in the book, there is a heading Finding Out About Sex with two questions: Is it normal to be curious about growing up? and Is it okay to ask about sex?

Book a uni open day. We have all heard about the million children growing up without fathers but I wanted to draw attention to a rarer but similar issue, growing up without a mother. What effects can this have on a child, especially if the mother is absent for practically all of the childs life? Also, if the mother neglected the child and never showed the child any love and basically abandoned the child. Why should gay adoptions be legal if? Parents who force vegan diets on their kids face jail time under new Italian law.

I grew up without a father, and unfortunately, I've experienced many of the psychological consequences the studies discuss. I've always had a copious amount of anger-not just loud anger, but quiet anger, as well. For me personally, quiet anger is more insidious and volatile.

Information about sex is everywhere. But what you learn from TV, movies, the internet, and friends is not always a healthy or accurate view of sexuality.

This is an excellent reference. To those one star reviewers I must say, thank you. When I read their ignorant reviews I knew it was the right book. I was not disappointed. There is no soft porn in this book, only facts. Masturbation is real, it happens. Children should know that it is normal and should not be shamed by anyone. I think that if a person knows his/her own body and what it is capable of before they are in the heat of the moment intimately they are less likely to keep going. If they are already aware of what sexual feelings and an orgasm feels like they are less likely to give in when presented with the choice of having sex. It is proven that lack of sexual education leads to having sex at an earlier age, increases in teen pregnancy, and increases in STDs. Buy this book.

I was looking for a book that explained both girl and boy development with the facts and not judgement. This book delivered. I lloked at several options from the library before purchasing this one. It is written by the Magic School Bus author.

I'm a therapist and was looking for a good book to refer parents to use to help facilitate discussion about sex between themselves and their kids. I think this is a really informative book, and would help make that awkward conversation a little bit easier.

I knew this was going to be tough but I wanted my twelve year old daughter to know the facts of life. When my sisters and I were growing up we had to learn about things through friends that were not accurate. My parents couldn't face these issues and I wanted to handle this better. This book was a big help. I asked my Daughter to read the book and if you want to talk about anything please do so.

I highly recommend this book to all open-minded, good-hearted individuals. I chose this book based on Amazon reviews and it exceeded my expectations! It covers everything in the best possible way! My 12 yr old son was reluctant to read it so I assigned him 2 chapters to read. I plan on assigning 2 more next year, and so on until the whole book is read.
MEGA FREEDY MEGA FREEDY
great for 12-13 year-old, this book doesn't sugar coat anything and gives very clear concise information on topics of abortion, and sexuality without getting into wright or wrong morality of issues. Not for everyone, but great information.

Hip looking, reasonable guide to the topics but badly dated (yes, the revised edition). IUDs are briefly mentioned under "other methods" while a diaphragm gets its own paragraph and an illustration. "Do only gays get AIDS?" is the headline for a paragraph. STDs is used rather than STIs, etc. it's fine, it's just in need of another revision, or a better one.
My daughter just turned 13. I thought some of the information was a bit much. I was like noooo not yet and I tore out the pages I felt were too advanced. I would suggest parents read it before just handing it over to the child.
