Gaspard and Lisa have been best friends for a long time ("since last year") and this endearing book in Anne Gutman and Georg Hallensleben's charming series of small square books tells the story of their friendship. Despite the fact that he is the only dog in a classroom of humans, Gaspard (a black dog) thinks Lisa (a white dog) looks weird. And a trifle unwashed, to boot. But everyone else thinks they look like brother and sister, and when he vociferously protests the comparison, Gaspard and Lisa have their first fight.

Gaspard and Lisa at the Museum (Gaspard and Lisa Books). If you're as much a fan of Anne Gutman and Georg Hallensleben's collaborative efforts as we are-or even if you've never met Lisa or Gaspard (Gaspard on Vacation), you'll be utterly charmed by Lisa in New York. Hallensleben's thick, smeary brush strokes are endlessly appealing, whether depicting the "funny-looking Flatiron Building" or a raring-to-go Lisa gazing out the window of her hip uncle's high-rise (he seems to have some Andy Warhol paintings on his wall!) (Ages 3 and older) -Emilie Coulter.

Gaspard et Lisa, more commonly known as Gaspard and Lisa, are two fictional characters appearing in a series of children's books created by wife and husband Anne Gutman and Georg Hallensleben. The books center on two friends: Gaspard (black with a blue scarf) and Lisa (white with a red scarf) who go on various adventures.

Lisa and Gaspard-the canine Curious Georges of Anne Gutman and Georg Hallensleben's lovely series-travel around the world getting into all kinds of scrapes. Or do they? In Lisa in the Jungle, Lisa doesn't really travel to the jungle. She makes the whole story up because she's jealous of her friend Gaspard who got to go sailing while she stayed home and swam at the community pool all summer. But what a story it is! Her uncle Paul picks her up in a private plane to take her to his tree house, which is guarded, of course, by two gigantic gorillas

Recvd from seller in excellent condition!
I have been a longtime fan of the Gaspard and
Lisa series and found the author's book -
"Gaspard in the Hospital" at a discount store in
The late 1980's and intended to give the book
away... I'm glad I kept it!! As now my daughter
loves watching them on TV!

My boys discovered Gaspard & Lisa on the Disney Channel. They really enjoy the stories, and the graphics are beautiful. I think my boys can relate easily to G & L.

My grandson loved it and wanted to hear it over and over again. Delightful books and characters.

This book is awful. I gave it one star because of the illustrations. We picked up this book at the library and I ok'd it coming home due to flipping through and being intrigued by the illustrations. The message in this book is that it is perfectly fine for "kids to be kids" and that grownups are all no fun and mean. I kept reading it to my sons thinking that in the end there would be a redeeming quality - there was not. They destroy their grandmother's artwork, are unable to finish the "fix" they had planned and then go outside to play without being found out yet, determined that they will just "fix' (lie) it later. My 7-year-old and 4-year-old both looked at me confused and couldn't figure out why Gaspard and Lisa didn't tell the truth or get in trouble. Their take away was, "wow, they were really bad". I would never purchase this book. I actually finished the book thinking that I needed to write a review just to warn other parents about this awful book.

This is a beautifully illustrated book that is as enjoyable for the adult to read as it may be for the appropriate aged child. Many of the things that the children in this book do are things that we might not praise, but the whole point of the story is that the kids are trapped inside for an entire week on their vacation due to rain, and they are just being kids, at their wits end with being trapped inside. It's a good opportunity to discuss boredom and the creative impulses that the kids/(they are really dogs) have, but how might they have been able to have fun without causing trouble, etc. I think this book might be appreciated by children around 5 years old. My little daughter of one year wasn't even interested in the illustrations, which is why I brought it home from the library. I knew she was too young for the plot.

The centerfold illustration of the kids' haunted house is worth every penny of the price, and of all the Gaspard and Lisa books I have looked at (4), this one is the most clever and beautiful.

Read it with your kids.

I remember reading this book with my daughter when it first came out and both of us agreeing that what they were doing in the book was naughty, but we laughed and laughed. This is one of the funniest books you can get for your child and it sparks conversations about what is right and wrong - while being highly entertaining. The whole series is like that. They are a joy to read with your children and I highly recommend them, Rainy Day being at the top of the list.

I purchased this book for my daughter for Christmas. When we sat down to read the book together, we were disappointed. At the end of the book the two friends cut up a poster of their grandmother's, and try to piece it back together. In the end they lose a piece of the poster and try to fix it with a marker. Both of them are afraid they will get into trouble for this. (Which they should!) But none of the adults notice what has happened, and the two dogs go on and play outside. And the two dogs say they will fix the puzzle and no one will ever notice! My daughter said "That is not the right thing to do!" I was very disappointed and felt I had wasted my money.
