Description

Sitting Bull" is a high level overview of American westward expansion from 1840 to 1890. This book works best as a one volume synopsis of this era of American history

Sitting Bull" is a high level overview of American westward expansion from 1840 to 1890. The book interspaces the life story of the Lakota Sioux leader Sitting Bull as illustrative of the Native American experience during this time period. This book works best as a one volume synopsis of this era of American history. It does not work if you are looking for a biography of Sitting Bull. My second criticism of this book is that the illustrations are decent but not especially inspired. This volume is a solid age appropriate history of an important part of American history.

The second volume in a series of books on the history of America, covering the settling of America in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is illustrated with drawings, photographs and maps, and there is a section giving details of places of interest to visit in the UK which tie in with the text.
