the more of these american girl mysteries i read, the more ludicrous they seem. i guess it must be challenging to come up with a plotline that is truly mysterious but also age-appropriate for a child. amp; at least this book involved more of a mystery than, "there's a polio epidemic & the girl in the next bunk over at sleepaway camp seems.

I would also recommend the Rebecca mystery A Bundle of Trouble.

I guess this must have been a book for "Young Adults" or even younger perhaps. But it was fun to read and interesting...life in apartment buildings, neighborhoods, relatives and friends looking out for one another. I liked the kids who were the main characters and the good families they came from. Heartwarming book

My daughter was so excited to get this book and devoured it in 1 day. She can't wait to order more. It's perfect size for my 7 year old to carry around and read anywhere. Love the compact size.

The American Girl series, particularly the historical books, never dissapoint me and this one is no exception. I am an adult reader who enjoys historical fiction and American Girl, so this review is from the viewpoint of an adult reader. I really enjoy the AG historical mysteries because they contain so much educational material and historical facts, while still be truly enjoyable reads. The character of Rebecca Rubin is one of my favorite, and this book has an entertaining plot and likeable characters. I highly recommend this book both to adults interested in historical fiction as well as children.
