An old childhood favorite. I read it aloud to my 6 and 3 year old and the 6 year old enjoyed it more than the 3 yr old., although she did listen with wide eyes. It's a great way to introduce longer stories and transition out of picture books.

This was my favorite story as a kid and was my son's favorite stories. I purchased it to read to my boyfriends children and my grandchildren when they are old enough. It is a fun and wild story and kids love to hear it or read it. Especially when you do different voices with the characters. Its a great book for kids 2nd grade - 5th grade.

I had a copy of McBroom Tells the Truth as a little girl - too long ago to say. Its as wonderful today as it was then. Really fun for the littles if you can be a bit hammy and add a touch of southern drawl to your voice. My children Love them all!!!!

Love all the McBroom books.
I so loved this author and all his tall tales about the McBroom family, when I was an elementary teacher of gifted young readers, that have I remembered and sought them out these thirty-five years later to give them to my grandchildren. I delight in reading them together for all the giggles they evoke!
