Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt. Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt. January 3 at 12:33 AM ·. Für Anna zum 1. Geburtstag.
This book has been written by Eric Carle. Born in New York, Eric spent most of his early childhood in Germany. After working as a graphic designer at the New York Times, he later went on to become the art director of an advertising agency. Carle and his family have together opened the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Massachusetts which has been running successfully since 2002.
Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt book. And if I rate the book with my memories of childhood and my inner child in mind, The Very Hungry Caterpillar is and always will be a full and As a three year old (in Germany, in 1969, thus in the same year the book was published), I absolutely adored Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar (or I should rather. say that I loved the German version of the book, Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt and that I have in fact only read the English version but this once, being last week, at our local library).
I think the book should be advertised with an age indication. I was trying to purchase "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" board book in German. When you select Board Book you get a very hungry caterpillar themed numbers and colors etc. book in German. Just not what I wanted. I'm keeping to give as a gift to my half German nephew anyway in addition to a copy of the book I really wanted. 6 people found this helpful.

To be precise, "Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt" doesn't translate to "The very hungry caterpillar". The English title is the original one, and the German one is a translation. I'd say the translator allowed himself a certain degree of freedom, as it is common in literature. Nimmersatt" is a nice word to express "very hungry" very concisely. In fact, it goes beyond "very hungry" and says "never satisfied", that is always hungry. The effect is augmented by using it as a name and not a simple adjective
