As our butterfly life cycle activities progressed, we had several mini-lessons along the way. After each one, we added our written responses, done in mini books, to our culminating projects: this foldable butterfly booklet. Each piece of the booklet has a mini-lesson with visuals or charts as well as a writing component. I love to get my kids writing, especially about science!

Not what I expected. I was looking for a lot more pictures. It was a tad juvenile also. Sent it back.

This is a very colorful book. Make it even better by getting one of those wind up flying Butterflyers at butterflyers . com. that way, the butterflyer will fly out of the book and seemingly make the butterflies on the pages come to life.
Seymour Simon does it again with his wonderful non-fiction text for elemenatry readers. He makes the words pop out of the page and allows students to explore the world of butterflies. In all school libraries and classroom libraries this is a must have. It is perfect for exploring text features and for students to discover the wonders of animals. Must read and have. Simon is a non-fiction genius.
