The television show ran on ABC Saturday mornings from September 10, 1983 to November 2, 1985 for three seasons and 29 episodes. In 1985, DiC released an animated feature film spun off the series titled Here Come the Littles.

This is the first chapter book I use as a read-aloud with my 1st grade class. Due to this, they become fascinated with finding other copies of the same book and other beginning reader chapter books.

Ships from and sold by Grancat Books. This is the first chapter book I use as a read-aloud with my 1st grade class. We extend this book into our own stories and stir up imaginations within the classroom and beyond. At home, I do the same with my own children and for each, this becomes the first chapter book (instead or sometimes in addition TO the nightly picture book story) that I read aloud to my own children because it ignites the imagination.

This is the first chapter book I use as a read-aloud with my 1st grade class. Due to this, they become fascinated with finding other copies of the same book and other beginning reader chapter books. We extend this book into our own stories and stir up imaginations within the classroom and beyond. At home, I do the same with my own children and for each, this becomes the first chapter book (instead or sometimes in addition TO the nightly picture book story) that I read aloud to my own children because it ignites the imagination. I love that this book was originally published in the 60's as the vocabulary is quite different from what it is today, "a quiver full of bows and arrows", being one example. What IS a quiver full of arrows? What does that look like???

This book lends itself to so many extensions for learning and enjoyment both at home and at school- from comprehension, vocabulary, extend-the-story, artwork- I love looking at the artwork of the images that the story conjures up at both home and school. This is a story with few illustrations and one that I love to see the children draw is the tin can elevator- there isn't an illustration of this in the book (thank goodness) and looking at what the children draw always amazes me.

If you have a school-age child instead of a picture book, try a chapter book such as this one for nightly reading. It'll be a great adventure and foster a love for chapter books!

My 7 year old is an advanced reader. I purchased this for her as a "bonus" fun book as she is a voracious reader. She finished Indian In The Cupboard (20 minutes/night is part of her 2nd grade homework) and this was her reward. She read it under 1 hour. ?!!? She LOVES these types of books (she is the same with the Magic TreeHouse series), but if you have a voracious reader like I do, prepare to have others in back supply for your child to devour. We had also purchased Pippy Longstocking and Secret Zoo.

My advanced 1st grader LOVES this book. I have since been on the search for others in the series. Chapters are short and engaging. It is the only book she has picked up and not dreaded reading. I homeschool both of mine so this is a huge plus!

My son loves this series. He was very hard to get engaged in reading and only liked the gross boys' series books. I introduced him to this and boxcar children and other books from my childhood and he has been an excited reader. (He is 9, reads on level but I would say these are pretty easy reading for him)

I have never read these books. I am a writer and I am doing some research. This was simple and interesting. I enjoyed reading it.

I loved this as a kid and got it for our daughter. She's reads well, but is picky. She loved it too. It was exciting and engaging without being scary. It's nice to have on hand for when my son gets old enough for it.
My son, who HATES to read by himself loves the Littles. He is reading these books at school with his teacher, and he made an off-hand commnet about it on the way home. So, I immediately got on Amazon and bought three Littles books. He was SO EXCITED to see them arrive. And - now he is reading on his own after homework is done. Without us prompting him. And gave me a full report on his reading. Well written books, that hold the attention of my 6 year old? Im so there!!! Love the Littles!!! And now a huge fan!
