Ronald Sukenick (July 14, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York – July 22, 2004) was an American writer and literary theorist. Sukenick studied at Midwood High School in Brooklyn, New York, and Cornell University, and wrote his doctoral thesis on Wallace Stevens, at Brandeis University. After Roland Barthes announced the "death of the author", Sukenick carried the metaphor even further in "the death of the novel". He drew up a list of what is missing: reality doesn't exist, nor time or personality

While adopting many of their predecessors' attitudes, they were concerned to return to greater discipline and craftsmanship in their work.
