They are the very best America has to offer -- the few and the proud  . Like the other books in the series this one starts out with a short introduction of historical development of the ethos and tradition of the Corps.

This had the effect of freezing seven Iraqi divisions in place, guarding against an invasion that never came. The details would be familiar to any Marine who has ever hit a beach.

A book like this would be impossible to produce without the support of senior service personnel in leadership positions .

A book like this would be impossible to produce without the support of senior service personnel in leadership positions, and this one is no exception. Our first thanks go to General Charles 'Chuck' Krulak, the 31st Commandant of the Marine Corps. Thanks also to his hardworking PAO, Major Betsey Arends. Four years later and four seas away, a fatigued Air Force captain entered the sixth day of his fight for survival in rugged northern Bosnia.

A smattering of the Marine grind, laid out and contextualized. Compiled to be interesting and assimilated by non-military. Need to dive into the military feet first, over the edge into a world few get to see, then read Marine. It's fast moving and sweeps the reader (this reader) into a universe with facts and details of what it is like to be a Marine. The facts didn't bog me down. Like a gun designer who lives not far from where I hail built homemade weapons and figured out to spread energy to buffer the recoil. This book resurrected the past physical science teacher nerd in me and I was surprised by the photographs that accompanied the descriptions. First ebook I've read that came with. Who knew!

Tom did a nice job explaining how we do it and what we do it with!

What the book loses in its references to systems that never panned out, such as the AAAV, it gains back in the creative scenarios in which Tom Clancy describes the use of MEU (SOC)s.

very good
It was a gift for my son and he likes it. I have not read the book myself, but I am reading another Tom Clancy novel and it is very detailed, so I'm sure "Marine" has lots of good information in it.
