There’s not a damn bit of difference as long as it’s the Marine breed. 5 Reasons Why Chesty Puller is a Marine Corps Legend. Lt. Gen. Lewis "Chesty" Puller was a Marine’s Marine.

Within the Marine Corps the “Old Breed” has a special meaning, referring to the soldiers of the 1st Marine Division and their heroic defense of Guadalcanal in the early days of World War II, as well as to those who have gone before.  This book gives today’s readers a rare chance to hear these old soldiers tell their own stories and to learn firsthand what it was like to be there for some of the twentieth century’s most harrowing battles and powerful triumphs.  From personal interviews and the archives of oral history, the author has collected the reminiscences of the Marine Corps’ top rank of post-World War II officer legends, from early fifties commandant Lemuel Shepherd’s memories of Belleau Wood in World War I to on-the-spot accounts of leading soldiers into battle in Vietnam.  Many of Camp’s subjects were commandant of the Corps, most were four-star generals, and all were heroes whose stories are the stuff of history.

The ability of the Marine Corps to create great leaders is unparalleled. Leatherneck legends sits you down to talk with four of those great leaders about their experiences spanning the 20th century, from the first world war to Vietnam. These are authentic tough gents able to inspire men to great courage by personal example. They epitomize all that is good in the warrior ethos and their example will inspire you as well. Political views of the wars takes a backseat to the admiration these men garner; and to the sort of gents who have gone before them. It is a thrilling account not just of these gentlemen-warriors but of the Marine Corps that they represent as well. You will not want to put it down.

Colonel Richard Dick Camp, retired Marine, fought in Viet Nam and knows war and the Marine Corp. This book is personal accounts and stories gathered up by the Colonel and handed to us in one fine book. The Marines are always there when America calls and the first Marine Division, the Old Breed, has been there through them all. Read these stories and get a feel for war, the Marines and the human emotions we sometimes forget about.
