Neat book! Worth the $$ Clear instructions, great illustrations, good for an enthusiastic beginner and beyond.
I just got booted from NOVICE to INTERMEDIATE category. I guess I shouldn't have won that Blue Ribbbon!
(I wonder who I need to insult to get busted back to Novice??)
The book's methods can be adapted to other Kachina carvings.

This book is very useful when explaining the carving and assembly of Kachinas. If you are an intermediate carver, you can complete a Kachina without a problem.

Not really impressed with this. Little substance, and nothing new for me. Too many pix and not enough text/history on Hopi dolls.

It's okay it only shows one version of the Kachina Doll

This short book has 3 katsinam, each is moderately easy to carve. Really nice step-by-step photos, over 60 photos with short captions for each doll. Also had a gallery at the end with multiple views of 8 other katsinam. My only complaint is that the binding didn't hold and pages fell out. This is OK, since it folds flat and stays open when working on a doll.
