Greyhounds (Complete Pet Owner's Manuals). This is a great book with colorful pictures and important "need to know" information. It helped with choosing a vet and knowing what questions to ask the adoption agency when inquiring about their dogs. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in owning a greyhound.

Everything About Adoption, Purchase, Care, Nutrition, Behavior, and Training. However, I was in for a most pleasant surprise when I purchased a copy of Greyhounds by D. Caroline Coile, P. Barrons Educational Series, Inc (1996). This is a very well written book with great color photographs at a very affordable price. The first thing which caught my eye was the cover portrayal of a gorgeous fawn greyhound with the most soulful eyes.

Many of the nearly 200 titles in Barron's Complete Pet Owner's Manuals series focus on dogs and cats of many different breeds. Other titles are written for owners of birds and mammals that are suitable as pets. Aquarium and terrarium hobbyists will also find titles that advise on care of different fish, reptile, and amphibian species. This book has everything you need to know about these beautiful and loving dogs, which have been called "love sponges" because they're so affectionate.

Having looked at owning a greyhound for over a year now, I wanted a book that would do more than just introduce to me the greyhound. This is a great book with colorful pictures and important "need to know" information. It helped with choosing a vet and knowing what questions to ask the adoption agency when inquiring about their dogs. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in owning a greyhound. We're still in the process of inquiry, but this booked helped me understand more about the complexities of the breed and how they are very different from most others.

This is a well written book regarding adopting and caring for a retired racing greyhound. I would not really consider it a "complete" owner's manual because it does not go into enough detail for that. It does have some nice pictures and a lot of general information about greyhounds. It is a good book to read before adopting an ex-racing greyhound. I have had this in my collection for almost 13 years and it is still in very good condition.

There have been several thorough resources published about adopting and caring for greyhounds with the caveat that greys are "different from other dogs". They include technical paragraphs about the physical and psychological sensitivity of these dogs, but don't give many examples about how greys differ from other dogs emotionally and psychologically. This book fills that gap, bringing a realistic and focused perspective to what it is REALLY like to have a greyhound in your house. It does this with a friendly, companionable voice rather than a clinical one, although the technical information is included as well. If you love greyhounds, you will love this book. It is obvious from the text that Coile loves her greyhounds.

This book provides helpful information and insights for owners of greyhounds as well as to those thinking about getting a greyhound. It contains first aid tips and obedience training guidelines that aren't available in most other greyhound books. It also has beautiful photos of the breed. There are only two drawbacks I have found about this book; it does not fully emphasize the need to keep greyhounds on leashes or in enclosures and the reading continuity is interrupted by the "How To" sections (not that they're not helpful but they seem misplaced).

I recieved this book as a Gift from a friend shortly after getting a greyhound. I found it very helpful and informative, what to look out for, what to do, what not to do, and it even gave me a head-start to finding recreational activities to participate in with my greyhound, such as lure coursing , which my greyhound will be participating in once she gets settled in.
