I am a patent valuation analyst. My first boss gave me a copy of this. Now, when I hire new people on to my team, they rarely know anything about patents, rather they are CFA types. I give them each a copy of this book and force them to read it. It brings them up to speed quickly and acts a reference books for them over their first year of work. I highly recommend it to anyone trying to learn about intellectual property. I think I may have purchased 20 copies of this book over the last few years.

This is a wildly exciting book! Ok, I'm just kidding, it's not exciting at all but it's useful. I'm a government contracts attorney in the nonprofit/public higher education sector. It's been about 12 years since I took an IP class in law school, so I wanted a refresher. This book fit the bill. I especially like that it covers global IP issues.

I am a practicing attorney and found this book very helpful in getting a quick and dirty overview of IP law. It seems like many criticisms come from law students. For a quick guide that you can read in a weekend and use to orient yourself in a new area of law, I think this book fit the bill.

4.5 stars instead of 5 stars solely due to dry subject matter... can anyone really "love" IP law?!

If you need a quick study of IP at 20,000ft this will give it too you. Not too much in depth but a good overview or refresher.

I barely got through the first chapter of this book. It was the required book for my class. Fortunately I received an A despite not reading the book. Dull. Dry. There are better books on the subject.

so far, it's done a good job of summarizing a 'boat load' of material
