I'm an attorney. I've used this book. I've recommended specific forms from this book to non-lawyers. (Hey, it's cheaper and easier than Bender's for the simple stuff. e.g. Amazon sells Bender's Forms of Discovery: Complete Library (Bender's Forms of Discovery, 1-16) for 4 figures.)

Should *you* purchase this book?
If you're an attorney, sure. If you have the training and experience to recognize whether a particular form is sufficient for a particular purpose in your particular jurisdiction, then these forms can be convenient. If you have had the good sense to avoid law school, should you purchase this book? These forms could be dangerous to use. The problem, of course, is that it is literally impossible for a book to engage in the analysis required to determine whether one of the forms in this book will meet your particular need(s) in the particular jurisdiction(s) involved.

The authors devote three whole paragraphs to the question "Do You Need a Lawyer." They, of course, don't give a yes or no answer. They don't even provide an algorithm you can apply to your situation to arrive at an answer. Because they simply cannot do so. They do maintain "[c]reating a solid written agreement - especially where a lot of money or property is at stake - will occasionally mean obtaining the advice of a lawyer." I think that understates the problem. Drastically.

For example, chapter 4 deals with landlord-tenant forms. Landlord-tenant law is ridiculously local. Hyper local. It doesn't vary just from state to state, it changes from city to city. The forms you need to use in New York City may be completely different from the forms you need to use in Albany. Never mind the differences between New York and California.

Another example, some of chapter 10 is generally applicable because it deals disputing credit card debt - which is governed, in part, by federal law. But you may have state law rights that exceed the federal protections. If you have 10k in credit card debt, would you want to risk it?

While many forms are online and this book is not state-specific, it’s an excellent resource for verbiage and general forms used by consumers. I’ve used many of the forms for the proper legalese needed in basic contracts for leases, purchasing and contractors.

In general, Nolo press writes the best Pro-per books available for the layman. I've been using them for over thirty years, still do, and have a complete library of their publications. They've never let me down as to quality, completeness, and accuracy.

Very informative with quality law form information and detail. Covers a variety of common legal matters with clarity and easily understood terms. The CD-Rom with legal forms is easily used and functions well. Very useful as a reference concerning every day legal matters. Highly recommended. Great transaction. Arrived on time and in a neat and sturdy package.

Just bought this in kindle version. I'm not really understanding the product since there is no apparent way to access electronic versions of any of the forms. I could, use "printscreen" I suppose.
Update:
There is a link inside the kindle version to a "contact us" page. Its a dead link though.
Update:
I returned the kindle version to Amazon (didn't know I could do that) and just bought the title (a large pdf) from the nolo website.

This is a great selection of common forms but, of course, there are many forms that will not be useful to the buyer. I.e., permission forms for schools, etc. are not needed by seniors buying this product (me). Therefore, the percentage of useable forms will be fairly low. For that reason, there should be many more than 101 forms in the collection at this price. 200 forms would give it a reasonable value at this price. I have been buying Nolo products for many years and found them to be of good quality but often over-priced.

Outdated and several forms were removed from the text.
Got it at a cheaper site.... NO dvd, but that's okay. These Nolo books are priceless.
