Historia de la vida del Buscón, llamado Don Pablos, ejemplo de vagamundos y espejo de tacaños. El Buscón has been considered a profound satire on Spanish life, but also as a literary exercise for Quevedo, in that he was able to utilize word-play and verbal flourishes and his skill as a literary caricaturist  . Pablos and the alleged gentleman arrive at the house of Don Toribio Rodríguez Vallejo Gómez de Ampuerto y Jordán, who also claims to be a gentleman.

I absolutely hated this book because I don't particularly care for the Picaresque genre. It was assigned reading for class. HOWEVER, I gave it 5 stars because of all the footnotes that it contains. Without the notes, it would have been nearly incomprehensible for me because of the old Spanish it uses. So, great book for reading support.

The book was delivered in poor condition. The edges and back cover were all bent up and one page was torn. Otherwise it's a good book.

"This brilliant and cynical novel, supposedly containing many autobiographical episodes, and set in a boarding house in Salamanca peopled by unsavory characters, is one of the wittiest books ever written in Spanish, so packed with conceits and double meanings that it is all but impossible to translate."This is as reviewed in "The New Essential Guide to Spanish Reading" which is published by America Reads Spanish: a campaign aimed to increase the use and reading of the Spanish language through the thousands of libraries, schools and book stores in the US.
