I don't recommend this practice, because after a few you realize that it's all a blur! And now I have trouble distinguishing this title from the rest. But I can say that they are all clever, witty and outdated in a fun way (learn something about "olden" times - and that people and their cares have been the same for centuries).

Jerome Klapka Jerome (2 May 1859 – 14 June 1927) was an English writer and humorist, best known for the comic travelogue Three Men in a Boat (1889). Other works include the essay collections Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow (1886) and Second Thoughts. Jerome Klapka Jerome (1859-1927) was an English author, best known for the humourous travelogue Three Men in a Boat (1889). In 1877, he decided to try his hand at acting, under the stage name Harold Crichton. He joined a repertory troupe who tried to produce plays on a shoestring budget, often drawing on the meager resources of the actors themselves to purchase costumes and props. He tried to become a journalist, writing essays, satires and short stories, but most of these were rejected. Over the next few years he was a school teacher, a packer, and a solicitor's clerk. Finally, in 1885, he had some success with On the Stage-and Off, a humourous book, the publication of which opened the door for more plays and essays.

The Christmas Eve ghost story is a time-honored English tradition, which includes such classics as Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." While I love Dickens, I would suggest giving Scrooge a rest this Christmas Eve and reading "Told After Supper" instead. For one thing, it is much shorter. It is also much funnier. If you enjoy the humor of Mark Twain, P.G. Wodehouse, and Douglas Adams, you will enjoy Jerome K. Jerome.

It the best $4.99 I ever spent. I had to leave the room where my wife and daughter were watching TV. I was making to much noise laughing. What a great little book. Now I know what they meant in the song "It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of Year" when they sang "There'll be scary ghost stories, And tales of the glories of Christmases long, long ago". What a great humorist Jerome K. Jerome is. I must have more of his books.

Jerome K. Jerome will make you laugh out loud. Told After Supper is a humorous and entertaining book. It is in the Victorian style when ghost stories were often told at Christmas. The book is a quick read, and could be read in one sitting. Told after supper is going to be a traditional Christmas read for me now.

I dearly love this book. Someone gave me an antique copy when I was in grade school and it's wonderful now to have it on my Kindle. For readers who don't know Jerome K. Jerome, this is an amusing introduction to a very droll writer who was also an acute observer of his time. And it's a quick read for aficionados of Christmas ghost stories.

This short story is actually three ghost stories. A reprint of what was evidently a short story for a magazine, it's not really up to Jerome's usual standard. On the other hand, it's still a good story by most other standards.

I love the idea of the tradition of telling ghost stories at Christmas.
