Hours before the costumed "Pirates' Ball," Elizabeth Rawley witnessed a strange spectacle in the waters off Key West. Engaged in mortal combat was the Black Cutter, Captain Richard Colter's ship. It has been years since I read this book, so when Pirate Romance was called for a Sub-genre of the month challenge, I went back and re-read it. The characters were vivid, but acted very implausibly for the time periods in which this book took place. The romance was cute and somewhat believable, but some of the implausibility of the book detracted from my overall enjoyment of it.
