Description

by Margaret St. George. Elizabeth Rawley is obsessed with the 18th century warship "Black Cutter"-and its intriguing captain, Richard Colter.

by Margaret St. Elizabeth knows she and Captain Colter would have loved each other with a passion if they weren't separated by 200 years. One night on a moonlit beach in Key West, Elizabeth finds a man washed ashore, wearing 18th century clothing and resembling Richard Colter-who is very much alive.

It has been years since I read this book, so when Pirate Romance was called for a Sub-genre of the month challenge, I went back and re-read it.

Hours before the costumed "Pirates' Ball," Elizabeth Rawley witnessed a strange spectacle in the waters off Key West. Engaged in mortal combat was the Black Cutter, Captain Richard Colter's ship. It has been years since I read this book, so when Pirate Romance was called for a Sub-genre of the month challenge, I went back and re-read it. The characters were vivid, but acted very implausibly for the time periods in which this book took place. The romance was cute and somewhat believable, but some of the implausibility of the book detracted from my overall enjoyment of it.

Was she dreaming? Hours before the costumed "Pirates' Ball," Elizabeth Rawley witnessed a strange spectacle in the waters off Key West. Engaged in mortal combat was the Black Cutter, Captain Richard Colter's ship. ~ Elizabeth was obsessed with the eighteenth century ship's treasure and with it's captain, a swashbuckling privateer who commanded the high seas and made women swoon for the favor of his wild passions. Then, on a moonlit beach, she found the body washed up in a homespun shirt, breeches and hemp tying back his long hair. It was Richard Colter and he was alive!

Comment: Absolutely loved this book. Richard Colter to die for. I've read it three times and it still fills me with joy, passion and sorrow. I have it in my Top Ten keepers and will read it again soon. Even after a year, the characters and story still live inside me.
