While this is tale is not of the same caliber of other writings by Mr. Lewis, it is certainly noteworthy. "Our Mr. Wrenn..." can be easily looked upon as the trials and tribulations of a pathetic little man as he bumps and roams his way through life. But more significantly, it can more easily be viewed as it was intended to be; the universal and satirical manner in which all of us, at times, view our own lives, the direction of which we seem to have little control. Who amoung us has not viewed his/her actions as being inane and meaningless? Who has not viewed our own thoughts as being completely alien with those around us and found ourselves fumbling in and out of a relationship? And who has not, under duress, tried to fit our square-pegged lives into the round-holes of society? Although this reading is subconsciously difficult to read at times, it does shout to our consciousness of the difficulty we all have as we attempt to define our place in the world around us. Hopefully none of us continues in the blind ignorance, as shown by Mr. Wrenn, and we all come to a place where we see ourselves for being unique and valuable rather than a piece of scrabble or flightless wren being blown about by societal whims....

I'd never heard of this title, but having enjoyed other things by the author, gave it a try. Following Our Mr. Wrenn as he discovers what he likes and doesn't like, what he wishes for and what he thinks he wishes for, what he sees as perfection and whether or not he's on the "right track," was made all the more pleasant by the setting and supporting characters. If you like Mr. Lewis' writing style as much as I do, you'll like this one for sure.

I love Sinclair Lewis but had never read this story. Very charming! Not up there with Arrowsmith or anything but still a light, fun, read.

Sweet and touching story of an older man in a dead end job who longs to travel. When he finally gets the chance, he finds it is not all he thought it would be. Ultimately he makes some good choices and all's well that ends well.

The personal dynamics explored by the author one hundred years ago remain fresh and culturally relevant .

I never have read a Sinclair Lewis novel I didn't enjoy. A bit more light-hearted than some of his later stuff, but a pleasant read.

Our Mr. Wrenn. The Romantic Adventures of a Gentle Man by Sinclair Lewis. Published by MobileReference (mobi).

Excellent read, extremely interesting and intelligent prose. If you enjoy it half as much as I did, you'll love it.
It was somewhat uneven. It improved as I neared the end of the book. It was one of Sinclair Lewis' first novels.
