The Gentle Wind's Caress book. Anne Brear has such a writing technique that just captures her readers and takes them on a wonderful journey of life. In The Gentle Wind’s Caress we are able to see life through Isabelle Gibson’s eyes. It pulls you in as soon as you read that first paragraph and continues to put you on the edge of your seat up to the very last word. It is an amazing book that I just couldn’t put down the whole time.

This book had a strong story/plot with strong characters.

Adultery is not a pretty thing, but it does happen. And in this story it is almost understandable.
I found myself pulling for Isabelle and Ethan and was glad they found each other.

I was completely into the plot when, at 90%, the story takes a wild and unexpected turn. wth??

The book ends at 95%, leaving Ethan's best friend and the reader with a 'I might see you again' and a 'perhaps' from Isabelle. wth?

This was not a HEA(imo) and left me muttering...wth??
Disappointed in this one.

Anne Brear writes authentic Victorian sagas which draw you into Victorian Yorkshire life. I didn't want to put this one down. Isabelle Gibson is buffeted by fate after her father leaves the family and her mother dies. She is left with a younger brother to care for. The private workhouse proves a lifeline, until the matron's son makes unwanted advances. The suggestion of an arranged marriage is welcome and Isabelle grabs it. But her husband is no hero. Isabelle is a plucky character. Wise and capable but vulnerable too. She finds herself on a leased and ramshackle farm and works hard to improve it. Ethan, the gentleman who owns the farm is handsome and strongly attracted to Isabelle, who begins to fall in love with him, but he is also married. The way ahead is difficult for both Isabelle and Ethan. Whatever happens in the future for Isabelle you trusted she'd roll up her sleeves and get on with it. The ending is a surprise and quite perfect I thought. Romances often have cliched endings but nothing about Anne Brear's writing is that.

When I finished this book, I was ready to give it one star for the awful ending. However, that wouldn't be fair. Just because I thought the book shouldn't have ended the way it did, didn't mean the writing wasn't good.

The author did a great job of capturing the emotions of the characters. Isabelle was a marvelous example of strength, integrity and caring. I liked the fact she and Ethan acted on their emotions although I normally don't condone adultery, in her case she was a wife in name only.

The book kept my interest; it drew me in. It had action, romance and several topics not normally covered in historical romances. The ending was completely unexpected and I didn't like it at all.

After having their father walk out on them and losing their grandfather, mother, and older sister to death, Isabelle and Hughes must find a way to live. Isabelle being desperate enough marries a man she does not know. Events take place and she meets her husband's landlord. They fall in love but cannot be together because of both their loveless marriages. This is another very heart touching story by Anne Brear. You'll fall in love with these characterse. She used great imagery. You can practically picture the farm where Isabelle lives. I do strongly suggest reading this book. It will leave you wanting more!

This is a book that anyone will enjoy. What a remarkable young lady Isabelle was. There is a lesson of hope and perseverance that was demonstrated by Isabelle. With all the obstacles in her life she never gave up.This book is hard to put down. It was very late and I was almost finish, just could not wait for the following day, had to stay up to find out how it was going to end. Good ending, good story.

The female lead is way to appealing men are after her at every turn. I didn't finish the book, I couldn't get past the immediate attraction and "love" after seeing each other across the creek. Annoyingly to quick and no reason for the immediate attraction.

This short story was very well written. I was able to get into the story from the beginning but it lagged in many spots.
